Southeast Kansas Community Action Program, Inc. runs several assistance programs including.
- Tenant Based Rental Assistance - This rental and housing assistance program was created to help low to moderate income people who are facing an eviction, who are currently homeless, or who are about to become homeless, through no fault of their own. The TBRA may help families for one year with rent and/or other housing expenses.
- HUD rental assistance - This particular housing program may provide long-term rental assistance and grants to families and the amount provided is based on their income. - Weatherization Program - This is funded by Kansas and the federal government, and it provides free energy saving measures and improvements to their homes for income eligible households. The goal of the program is to provide permanent energy conserving solutions to the high utility bills that are faced by low income families. Weatherization will include the installation of cost-effective, energy efficiency materials and related services, for free, and the work is done in order to make the home environment safer and more comfortable to the occupant. Some of the work completed can include compact fluorescent light bulbs, heating and cooling system repair and replacement, insulation, air sealing, and more.

Economic and Employment Support Services - The non-profit can offer employment support services which includes cash assistance and grants for families and pregnant women, free groceries and food assistance, child care assistance, and other services necessary for both obtaining and maintaining employment in the community. 620-431-5000
Salvation Army - The non-profit is involved in helping meet human needs that are both physical and spiritual in nature. Services offered by the Salvation Army include free food, clothing, utilities and heating bill assistance, groceries, commodities, lodging, shelter, rent help, youth and women programs.
