Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Hamilton County and Noblesville assistance programs.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, or Society of SVdP in Noblesville, works in collaboration with local charities as well as Hamilton County Human Services and Town Trustees or the Good Samaritan Network. The charity runs financial supportive services that directly assist clients. It will support families who are homeless, hungry, and assist low-income households at a high risk for homelessness. The financial aid as well as free stuff is for residents of the county only and if qualified, the applicant may receive rent or utility help or referrals.

Hamilton County  Saint Vincent de Paul thrift store helps pay for the charitable programs, the food pantry, medical loan closet, and other resources. While the possibilities of what someone can buy there is endless, examples of goods may be Clothing for the entire family; jackets, boots, and shoes; Craft supplies; Used appliances as well as furniture; toys for kids, collectibles, and linens; dishes, glassware, utensils, knick-knacks; albums, books, magazines, music cassettes; jewelry. Many other goods may be sold at a low price too. Read more on saving money on shopping.

As noted, the sales at the thrift store pay for the various financial as well as charitable programs. But to keep those sales rolling, people need to both shop there and contribute. As an example, through generous tax-deductible donations of households from Hamilton County Indiana, only then is the SVdP Noblesville  store able to sell those goods. So donations of furniture, household goods, clothing, books, and other necessities are needed. There is a local pick up service for some larger items as well.

In some cases, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Noblesville will give items for free to those in need. This is generally an exceptional service for a crisis, such as someone impacted by a disaster or maybe women fleeing a violent living situation. But from time to time other exceptions can be made.

The Noblesville Society of SVdP food pantry has been set up as a Choice Pantry model. The center serves all the residents of Hamilton County who are in need of assistance, no matter their income or whether they have a place to live or not. The program will assist them with food in accordance with the government approved, USDA nutrition guidelines whenever possible.

Client Choice Pantry – This means the family or individual can shop at their own free will. They are not just handed some box of groceries that they may or may not want or like. The client is fully able to choose their own items that they want, receiving the food (at no cost to them) based on the number of people in their families.

Examples of what may be offered by the free pantry include eggs, canned or frozen meats, veggies and fruits, detergent, cereal, canned soups, toilet paper, diapers, soap, baby food, pasta sauce, feminine supplies, toiletries and some cleaning supplies There is non-perishable and some fresh items from time to time. The pantry may give them the recommended servings from each food group, and it is open once every 30 days.

Financial help is not often provided. However the Society of Saint Vincent does link clients to township Trustees or other charities. Those providers may help in a crisis. Whether gasoline, money to pay for back rent or utility bills, water costs, furniture, or something else, this form of assistance from Noblesville Society of SVdP is an option too.
