Assistance programs in Grant County.

Some of the agencies and non-profits to turn to for financial help, free food and social services include the American Legion and Salvation Army - Moses Lake. These agencies, and others, are listed below. The goal is to offer emergency assistance, including grant money for bills or rent, at the same time as long term case management services.

Financial assistance programs

The Salvation Army - Moses Lake (which can be reached at (509) 766-5875) provides numerous emergency services and information. Low income, working poor, unemployed, the elderly, and other qualified individuals may receive access to some of the following programs.

There may be funds for rent assistance; Christmas programs including free toys or grants to pay Utility Bills. Other social services in Grant Harbor from the Salvation Army include Disaster Relief; Hospital/Nursing Home visitation;  or free Shelter/Motel vouchers.

Children and students can get free back to school supplies or uniforms. There is also a low cost Summer camp as well as transportation assistance for employed parents. More information on the Salvation Army in Grant County.

The American Legion provides qualified individuals with grants for emergency eviction prevention, money for paying move-in costs and utility bills for war-time veterans with dependent children. Applications for assistance programs they offer take at least two weeks to process. Dial (206) 220-6223.

Help from the Opportunities Industrialization Center of Washington

This organization offers various services to Grant County and Washington state families and is based in Ephrata.

Emergency Food Assistance Program - This program was created primarily to help increase the nutrition levels of participating individuals and families. OIC of Washington’s food pantry and bank distributes food commodities to nine other food banks through out the community and local area.

Various energy bill assistance programs are offered to qualified individuals from this non-profit. They include the following:

 

 

 

 

Low Income Bill Assistance (LIBA/PPL Bill Assistance) - This is a program that will assist electrically heated homes and apartments. It will provide qualified people with a discount on kilowatt usage over the first 600 kilowatts used, so people can save on their bills The assistance program runs from November through April of each and every year.

Washington Energy Assistance Fund  - Cascade Natural Gas provide financial assistance that will help households with paying for their natural gas expenses. This gas bill assistance program is available to help CNG customers with their energy costs, and it will provide up to $500 maximum. Programs include the city of Ephrata as well as the entire county.

Winter Help Program - This program assists with providing money for utility deposits, disconnects, and minor repairs to heating systems up to $250.00 for Gas Heated Homes.

Home repairs and weatherization - This federal government funded program will help people by providing energy saving enhancements and improvements to their homes.
