Rent assistance in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.
Several agencies in the Anne Arundel County area provide rental assistance to low income families and those facing eviction. A combination of churches, government agencies, and charities can be turned to for help. What may be provided includes grants for paying back rent, security deposits or other types of emergency housing assistance, including shelter. Or there may be loans for emergency rental assistance, legal aid or funds for a security deposit.
Some of the financial aid available in the county, including Annapolis, is funded by the state and can include the Rental Assistance program (RAP) and other sources. These resources will normally be for very low income families, the disabled, or senior citizens.
There are also many charities that can help with rent expenses, however these groups will normally rely on donations, and will have limited funding. In any case, most of the agencies will require clients to go through some form of case management in order to qualify for any form of help.

Other grants can be used for utilities, they have information on public housing, and the county can arrange for free legal aid to prevent an eviction. Funds for paying rent may be issued from the non-profit community action agency. Resources are limited, and some clients may be provided a no interest rate loan instead. Other support includes case management, foreclosure counseling, and assistance with a security deposit on a new, low income apartment. Referrals to charities can be provided too.

There are a few in the region. They also partner with outreach centers in Anne Arundel County. Whether it is emergency rental assistance, free furniture for an apartment, or referrals, support is offered.
